Snake Fruit

Locally called buah salak (snake fruit), this is one pleasant surprise for me.

It looks like a big lanzones and tastes like a bland jackfruit.

Quick things (according to locals):

  • Choose the one that feels hollow and solid at the pointed edge (at least I think that’s what they said)
  • Just peel the skin by pinching that pointed edge, then take a small bite. Don’t eat the seed.
  • Eat this immediately, and throw outside. If left inside, it smells worse than durian.
